Biography

Serhiy Derkach was born on 09 August 1984 in Zhytomyr.

Education:

In 2006,Serhiy Derkach graduated from Kyiv Law Institute of Internal Affairs with a degree in Law.

Employment history:

In 2001-2015, Serhiy Derkach served in the internal affairs agencies, in particular, as part of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Zhytomyr Oblast, units of Kyiv National University of Internal Affairs / National Academy of Internal Affairs.

Specifically, during his service, from 2009 to 2011, he led the Community Development Training Centre of the UN Mission in Liberia, and from 2013 to 2015, he led the Operations Department of the UN Mission in Liberia.

From 2015 to 2017, he worked at the Diplomatic Mission of the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine as an expert on anti-corruption investigations and prosecution of corruption offences under the technical assistance project EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine implemented by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2020 to 2023, he held senior positions at the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), including Deputy Chief of Staff and Head of Department for the Prevention and Detection of Corruption.

Since 07 February 2023, Serhii Derkach has been working as Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

Under the scope of his responsibilities, Serhii Derkach will direct and coordinate activities ensuring the performance of the Ministry's tasks and functions in shaping and implementing of the state policy in the following sectors:

●   road transport and road infrastructure

●   air transport and infrastructure, including the use of Ukrainian airspace

●   transport safety

●   development and modernization of border crossing points

●   technical regulations for transport

Serhiy Derkach will also ensure the performance of the Ministry's tasks and functions in shaping and implementing the sector-specific policy aimed at preventing and combating corruption.

This scope of his responsibility also includes corruption risks management within the Ministry's office, at enterprises, institutions and organizations under its management, as well as in joint-stock companies whose corporate rights functions are managed by the Ministry.

He is also responsible for ensuring the Ministry's interaction with central executive authorities in implementing the sector-specific policy of preventing and combating corruption and managing corruption risks.
