Restoration of Borodianka: over 590 objects renovated, 61 more residential buildings in progress

Housing and social infrastructure is being restored in Borodianka, Kyiv Region. Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Development of Communities and Territories Oleksii Kuleba held an on-site meeting at the reconstruction sites, where he checked the progress of work and the progress of the tasks set. The on-site event was joined by the team of the Agency for Restoration, including Serhii Sukhomlyn and Mykola Boyko, head of the Kyiv Region Administration Mykola Kalashnyk, and representatives of local authorities.

825 objects were destroyed or damaged in the village. As of June 2025, 592 of them have been restored — residential and private houses, schools, engineering infrastructure. By the end of the year, it is planned to complete another 61 residential objects — 42 within the framework of the project coordinated by the Kyiv Region Administration, and another 19 — along the lines of the Service for Restoration in the Kyiv Region.

"Borodyanka. One of the most painful examples of what the russian army leaves behind. However, today the results of restoration are already noticeable here. Some of the facilities are already at the stage of facade and interior work. The task is to ensure the first settlements in the fall. This is a priority for the entire team. We keep the process going every day," said Oleksii Kuleba.

In parallel with the restoration of housing in the community, new public spaces are being created. In April, a temporary Active Park was opened - a mobile space for sports and social interaction. It has courts for street basketball, panna football, table tennis, a skate zone and a street workout. The project was implemented in partnership with Big City Lab, Urban Reform and Street Culture, with the support of the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories, within the framework of the President of Ukraine's program "Active Parks". Currently, the park is operating in test mode, after which it will be adapted to a permanent format.

Today, about 10,000 people live in Borodianka — almost 80% of the community's pre-war population.

Special attention has been paid to the issue of memorialization as part of the restoration. The government is working to preserve the sites of crimes against civilians, prevent their loss during construction, and ensure a dignified commemoration.
