A meeting was held in Kyiv between Kuleba Oleksii, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, and Grozdan Karadjov, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria. The parties discussed key areas of cooperation in the transport sector.

One of the central topics was the launch of passenger railway services between Ukraine and Bulgaria via Romania. The initiative предусматриває a pilot launch of the route as early as this summer in a trilateral format.

«The launch of railway services between Ukraine and Bulgaria is not only about convenience for passengers, but also about strengthening our integration into the European transport space. We see real demand for this route and are committed, together with our Bulgarian and Romanian partners, to ensuring its pilot operation already this summer», — said Oleksii Kuleba.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of developing a competitive pricing model, including through the application of the Public Service Obligation (PSO) mechanism.

The parties also discussed the development of strategic transport corridors, the Danube cluster, and road infrastructure. They agreed to enhance coordination in the field of road transport and to hold a meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Bulgarian Road Transport Commission.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on the digitalisation of transport services, including the electronic border queue system, as well as cooperation in maritime safety in the Black Sea. They expressed their intention to intensify work on an intergovernmental agreement on maritime search and rescue. 

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for further practical cooperation and the implementation of the agreements reached.
