Ukrzaliznytsia received the first new reserved seat cars in the history of independent Ukraine
Ukrzaliznytsia has replenished its rolling stock with six new reserved-seat cars with 58 seats each. Built by the Kryukovsky Railway Car Building Works” PJSC, these cars are the first in the history of independent Ukraine to be purchased in reserved-seat modification. The purchase was made within the framework of the state rolling stock renewal program thanks to the support of the Government, the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

"Today, Ukrzaliznytsia received the first newly built reserved-seat cars. This is the most affordable and spacious type, critically important for socially significant routes. These cars are modern, comfortable, with thoughtful details for comfortable trips even over long distances. Starting from the weekend, they will run as part of the two-group train No. 22/21–104/103 Lviv - Kharkiv, Kramatorsk.
I would like to note that this is the first purchase of reserved-seat cars during the independent Ukraine, and it was fully financed from the state budget thanks to the decision of the Government and the support of the Ministry for Development and the Ministry of Finance. The state supports the modernization of the railway, and this direction will remain one of the priorities in the coming years," said Oleksii Balesta, Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories.

The new cars retain the familiar seating configuration, but have received a number of important updates aimed at improving comfort, safety and inclusiveness. Among the innovations:
- shelves with soft side backrests for more comfortable sleeping;
- ergonomic design of steps for convenient climbing to the upper shelves;
- mini-partitions between seats and the aisle for greater privacy;
- special niches under the lower shelves for storing oversized luggage - military backpacks or travel suitcases;

- folding individual tables and seats on the upper shelves;
- new interior upholstery and adjustable lighting for a more comfortable atmosphere;
- contrasting marking of handles and handrails, Braille at the recommended height, duplication of seat numbers in volumetric printing for people with visual impairments;
- sockets with USB and Type-C connectors, individual lamps with three lighting modes;
- new cars are equipped with air conditioning, vacuum toilets and changing tables as standard and have playpens for the smallest passengers.

In addition to purchasing new cars, Ukrzaliznytsia continues to modernize its existing rolling stock, including reserved seats.
We will remind you that in March, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at the initiative of the Ministry for Development and the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba, decided to allocate UAH 4.4 billion from the state budget for final payments for the current batch and the purchase of another 300 new passenger cars. The program, first included in the 2025 budget, provides for the acceleration of contract signing by lifting restrictions on prepayment, which will allow for the prompt start of car production, which will last up to 30 months.
